Learning to stay in system is becoming the prime goal of the University of Hawaii at Hilo volleyball team as they let another match getaway as they fell to Seattle Pacific University, 3-1, in the Equus Invitational in Laie, HI
Set scores were 25-11, 26-24, 22-25, 25-18. The Vulcans are 3-2 while the Falcons are 5-0.
“We are still struggling,†UHH head coach Tino Reyes said. “It’s a systematic thing but we are onto something good.â€
Hillary Hurley banged down 20 kills to lead the Vulcans while Kawena Cubi-Otineru had 14. Cubi-Otineru and Patty Vine tallied 18 digs each while Tialei Agader had 16 and Katie Swenson had 14.
After falling quickly in set one, the Vulcans were a point away from winning set two. The Falcons soared back for the final four points to take the set.
“We just didn’t play well,†Reyes said. “They are well coached and were just more involved than we were.â€
