Hawaiian introduces Japanese-language website

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaiian Airlines has announced the introduction of a new Japanese-language website – www.HawaiianAirlines.co.jp – in anticipation of the start of ticket sales for its new daily nonstop service between Honolulu and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.

“We’ve created a new website specifically for our Japanese customers that is easy to use, highlights what makes Hawaii such a special vacation experience, and will always offer the most competitive airfares,” said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian’s president and chief executive officer.

“This is an exciting time for Hawaiian as we are now less than three months away from launching our new daily service to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. We look forward to offering travelers in Japan the most authentic Hawaii travel experience when they fly on Hawaiian Airlines,” Dunkerley said.

Hawaiian’s new Japanese-language website offers many of the popular features of its English language version, including the customer-friendly booking engine for destinations that Hawaiian serves in Hawaii, the Western United States, and internationally, all presented in the colorful images of Hawaii.

HawaiianMiles frequent flyer membership enrollment on the Japanese website will be offered in the weeks ahead.

Other highlights of the new website include:

* Travel guide information about each of the Hawaiian Islands for Japanese consumers to peruse when making vacation plans.
* Ticket purchases can be made online using credit cards issued from Japan, including VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and JCB.
* Upon purchasing their tickets, customers can review their itinerary online in Japanese.

Hawaiian’s inaugural flight from Honolulu to Haneda takes place Nov. 17, with the inaugural return flight Nov. 19. Ticket sales for the new service will begin as soon as Hawaiian receives approval from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

As the only U.S. carrier offering flights between Haneda and Hawaii, Hawaiian’s service will offer superior travel convenience and accessibility to Japan’s largest metropolitan area, starting with Haneda Airport’s central Tokyo location. By comparison, Narita International Airport is 40 miles away.

In addition, Hawaiian’s flights will allow customers to maximize their travel schedule and time spent in Hawaii. Hawaiian Flight 458 will depart Tokyo daily at 11:59 p.m. and arrive in Honolulu at 12:05 p.m. the same day. In effect, travelers can depart from Haneda after a full day of work and arrive in Honolulu to enjoy their first afternoon in Hawaii.

Returning Flight 457 will depart Honolulu daily at 6:05 p.m. – giving travelers time to enjoy a full final day in Hawaii – before arriving in Tokyo at 10:05 p.m. the next day. (Tokyo is 19 hours ahead of Honolulu and the flight crosses the International Dateline.)

Customers on the Haneda route will also enjoy Hawaiian’s signature “Hawaii Starts Here” onboard service provided by a bilingual flight crew and customized to maximize the appeal to Japanese travelers.

Hawaiian will initially serve the Honolulu-Haneda route using its Boeing 767-300ER aircraft seating up to 264 passengers before introducing its new and larger 294-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft onto the route. Hawaiian is adding approximately 100,000 new air seats annually from Hawaii’s second-largest tourism market, helping to reverse a trend of declining air service in recent years.
