Kona hospital CPR, first aid classes in August

Kona Community Hospital (KCH) will be offering the Basic Life Support for healthcare providers on the following Fridays – Aug. 13 and Aug. 31. The four-hour classes 8 a.m.-noon and 12:30-4:30 p.m.

Classes are located in KCH’s Conference Room 3. Healthcare providers include physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, EMT’s, etc.

KCH will also have one Heartsaver First Aid Class, an eight-hour first aid and CPR class for community members. It is scheduled for 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6 in KCH’s Conference Room 3. It covers CPR for infants, children, and adults, Automated External Defibrillators (AED) training, choking techniques, and first aid.

There is also an ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Renewal course scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 28. This course is to teach healthcare providers the knowledge and skills needed to perform in the first 10 minutes of an actual resuscitation. Successful completion of a BLS Healthcare Provider Course is required.

All of these classes are open to the community.
