Arriving home to a hero’s welcome Tuesday (Aug 3) Shaedon Quevedo, 12 years-old, won two medals at the 3rd Annual World International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships in Riverside, California.

Quevedo won the championship in both the Gi (traditional jiu-jitsu uniform) match with a triangle choke and No-Gi competition when his opponent used an illegal move in the Junior Rooster division for 12 year-old kids up to 80 pounds.

The competition was open for kids from four years-old up to 17 years-old with both boys and girls competing.

Quevedo was covered with lei at Hilo International Airport with dad and mom Shannon and Delsha starting off piling on the flower lei with other family members and friends joining in. Quevedo trains at the BJ Penn Academy in Hilo.
