WHDT welcomes Taylor to staff

West Hawaii Dance Theatre and Academy has announced Hannah Taylor has recently joined its staff of instructors.

Taylor was born and raised in Houston, where she received her formal training from The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts along with her two mentors, Steven Boyd and Michel Manzanales.

With a strong background in ballet, modern, jazz and contemporary dance, she attended NYU in New York City and performed in “All That Glitters,” at Lincoln Center. And with Jana Hicks at the New York City Civic Centers in a series of choreography projects.

Then moving to Seattle for two years, she danced with Karin Stevens Dance Company and taught at many local Seattle studios.

Initially, Taylor will be teaching for West Hawaii Dance Academy’s Outreach Program.

Classes are at SKEA (South Kona Educational Association) in Honaunau for a special five-week “Introductory” Summer Session, July 17-Aug. 21, according to the following schedule:

* 9:15-10 a.m. Creative Pre-Ballet ages 3-4
* 10:15-11 a.m. Intro to Ballet & Jazz ages 5-7
* 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Beginning Ballet & Jazz ages 8-11

Tuition is $50 for five classes; class size is limited.
