Fire/rescue crews responded to a 7:51 p.m. alarm Sunday (Juy 18) to Mauna Kea Access Road for a truck crash.
Crews found a four-door Toyota Tundra crashed 300 yards off the roadway in a rugged a‘a lava field. Firefighters from Pohakuloa Training Area were already on scene getting the victims out of the vehicle. Two passengers in the rear seats were trapped in the truck and were later freed from the wreck.
The driver of the truck said the brakes failed on the way down past Hale Pohaku.
