Hawaiian rated No. 1 airline serving Hawaii

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaiian Airlines has been rated highest among domestic airlines that serve Hawaii and ranked fifth overall among the nation’s airlines according to Travel + Leisure magazine’s annual reader survey for its 2010 World’s Best Awards.

“We are delighted to once again receive this recognition from the discerning readers of Travel + Leisure,” said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian’s president and CEO. “It’s gratifying to know that our customers continue to value and recognize the effort we put into offering a Hawaii travel experience like no other airline. Full credit goes to our terrific employees, whose hard work and dedication keep us at the top of the industry year after year.”

One of the travel industry’s most popular publications, Travel + Leisure will publish the results for its World Best Awards in its August issue, ranking the best hotels, airlines, cruise lines, tour outfitters, car rental agencies, cities and islands worldwide.

A questionnaire developed by the editors of Travel + Leisure, in association with ROI Research Inc., was made available to Travel + Leisure readers at TLWorldsBest.com from Dec. 15, 2009, to March 31, 2010. Readers were invited to participate through Travel + Leisure magazine (January, February, and March issues), and online at TravelandLeisure.com. Airlines were rated for cabin comfort, in-flight service, customer service, and value.

In April, Hawaiian Airlines was ranked No. 1 for service quality in the 20th annual Airline Quality Rating study, having earned that distinction in three of the past four years.

Hawaiian has led all U.S. carriers in on-time performance for each of the past six years (2004-2009) and has been an industry leader in fewest misplaced bags during that same period (#1 from 2005-2007, No. 2 in 2008 and 2009) as reported by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Now in its 81st year of continuous service for Hawaii, Hawaiian is the state’s biggest and longest-serving airline, as well as the largest provider of passenger air service to Hawaii from the state’s primary visitor markets on the U.S. mainland.

Hawaiian offers nonstop service to Hawaii from more U.S. gateway cities (10) than any other airline, as well as service to the Philippines, Australia, American Samoa, Tahiti and, in the coming months, Japan and South Korea. Hawaiian also provides more than 150 daily jet flights between the Hawaiian Islands.
