Kona Stories schedule of events (July 12-14)

Beginner Sewing Class for Keiki
Date: Starts July 12-13, 10:30 a.m.
Where: Kona Stories Ohana Room
This class is perfect for the 9-14 year old Keiki looking to learn to sew. These classes will last three weeks Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. You will learn basic sewing skills. You will be making binder covers, gift bags, pillows and P.J. bottoms. ou will receive your own sewing kit and patterns to take home. Also, you will receive an intro to surface design and quilting. Six classes plus all materials included in your $175 fee.

2nd Tuesday Book Club
Date: Tuesday July 13, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Kona Stories Book Shop Lanai
Join this fiction book club for a lively book discussion on the beautiful ocean view of Kona Stories book shop in Kainaliu. This month’s discussion will be on the book “Sea of Poppies” by Amitav Ghosh. At the heart of this vibrant saga is a vast ship, the “Ibis,” whose destiny is a tumultuous voyage across the Indian Ocean, and whose purpose is to fight China’s vicious 19th-century Opium Wars. Everyone is welcome and this is a free community event. Bring a pupu or beverage to share.

Feldenkrais Class
Date: Wednesday July 14, 11 a.m.
Where: Kona Stories Ohana Room
This class taught by Debra Lerman has been exploring and teaching movement for more than thirty years. She holds degrees in dance and physical therapy, and over the past ten years has practiced as a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner®. Class fee is $15 drop in or $40 per month.

Qi Gong Class
Date: Wednesday July 14, 4:30-6 p.m.
Where: Kona Stories Book Shop Ohana Room
This Qigong class will be taught by John W. Adams, L.Ac. This introductory class is appropriate for all levels and will focus on the eight pieces of Brocade Qigong. You will work on regulation of the body, the breath and the mind. Class fee is $50 per month or $15 drop in.
