Firefighters spent Monday (June 28) battling a 320 acre brushfire in Ka‘u.

The fire was reported to be 75% contained by firebreaks cut by bulldozers with burning and smoldering large Kiawe trees in the burn area. Although the fire is reported to be under control crews will be spending the night and Tuesday wetting down hotspots.

The fire is on state property and the cause of the blaze is unknown. No roads are closed because of the fire.
