Big Island police have located 45-year-old Cynthia Johnasen of Hilo, who was wanted in connection with an unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle.

She was arrested Thursday afternoon (June 17) after witnesses reported a woman in a blue shirt and striped pants opening car doors parked in downtown Hilo around 1 p.m. Responding South Hilo patrol officers located Johnasen a short time later. She was arrested for two counts of unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, one count of second-degree theft and one count of third-degree theft.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section charged her with all offenses shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday. Her bail was set at $31,000.

Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 45-year-old woman who is wanted for questioning in connection with an unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle.

Cynthia Johnasen may live in Hilo or Puna. She is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-6, 200 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police ask that anyone with information on her whereabouts call Detective Norbert Serrao at 961-2383 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 961-8811. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential
