Police arrest three in Waikoloa marijuana bust

Three people were arrested Wednesday (June 16) for marijuana offenses following the service of a search warrant at a Ho’oko Place home in Waikoloa.

Police recovered 20 marijuana plants and more than three pounds of dried marijuana. Officers also seized $330 in cash for possible forfeiture.

At the residence, investigators from the Area II Vice Section arrested 34-year-old Nicolasa Sanchez and 30-year-old Amy Reid on suspicion of commercial promotion of marijuana.

Later that afternoon, 32-year-old Victor Sanchez III was also arrested on suspicion of commercial promotion of marijuana after turning himself in at the Kona police station.

After conferring with prosecutors Wednesday evening, police released Reid without charges.

Nicolasa Sanchez was charged with one count of promoting a detrimental drug and was released on her own recognizance.

Victor Sanchez III was charged with one count each of commercial promotion of marijuana, promoting a detrimental drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. He was released after posting $7,250 bail.
