Hawaiian promotes Sardinha to VP maintenance and engineering

MEDIA RELEASE

Lorrin Sardinha

Hawaiian Airlines has announced the promotion of Lorrin Sardinha to the position of vice president of maintenance and engineering, effective June 1.

Since November of last year, Sardinha had been serving as acting vice president of maintenance for Hawaiian and, prior to that, as senior director of maintenance since 2007.

In his new position, Sardinha has complete management responsibility over the maintenance, reliability, and cleanliness of Hawaiian’s fleet of Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 767-300 transpacific aircraft, and Boeing 717-200 interisland aircraft. He reports to Charles Nardello, Hawaiian’s senior vice president of operations.

“In his many years at Hawaiian, Lorrin has proven to be an effective leader who knows our maintenance operations inside and out,” Nardello said. “He has what it takes to lead our maintenance and engineering department into a new era of operational growth and expansion.”

Sardinha has 32 years of experience in aviation, the last 24 of which have been with Hawaiian. He started with the company as an aircraft mechanic and has progressively worked his way up through the ranks to his current position managing the day-to-day maintenance activities for Hawaiian’s aircraft.

Sardinha’s background also includes a four-year enlistment in the U.S. Air Force from 1978-1982, and his service as an aircraft mechanic for the Hawaii Air National Guard from 1984-1987.
