ReefTalk: Corals of Kahaluu; wildfire season (May 25)

ReefTalk Double Header! How do you save the corals of Kahaluu Bay? How do you prepare for a very hot wildfire season? Kona, Tuesday, May 25 at the Kealakehe High School Library, 6:30 p.m. Follow the yellow signs.

Cindi Punihaole, Kohala Center’s Project Manager for the Kahaluu Bay Projects, will present “Building Resilient Communities”, describing the community-based ground work process she has organized to develop a vision for the Kahaluu Bay area, a model program for a culturally and environmentally sensitive treasure.

Gail Byrne and county firefighters will share what the Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization and Fire Department suggests for preparation for the extreme wildfire season expected this year. Prolonged drought and dry vegetation have created seriously dangerous conditions. Learn what to do now to protect your home and community.
