Fire crews responded to an alarm just after midnight for a structure fire in Puna Wednesday (May 19).

The 20 by 20 foot structure was destroyed by fire at 11-3034 Pikake Street. Firefighters had a difficult time accessing the structure located in a heavy brush area with only a small trail leading to the scene.

The structure was not occupied, there were no injuries reported and the loss was estimated at $1,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
