KOHALA COAST, HAWAI’I— Hollywood screenwriter Ron Osborn shares his special system and insider tips for transforming a big idea to the big screen at the Big Island Film Festival’s workshop “Idea to Screenplay: A Step by Step Process for Turning Your Idea into a Screenplay.” Class takes place Saturday, May 15 at Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for only $50. Advance registration by May 5th is required, at www.BigIslandFilmFestival.com.

Idea to Screenplay is an interactive workshop presented by veteran screenwriter Ron Osborn whose words have been making us smile for over 35 years in favorite TV shows from comedies like “Mork & Mindy,” “Night Court” and “Moonlighting,” to the award-winning drama “West Wing” and feature films like “Meet Joe Black” starring Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins. Osborn, who teaches screenwriting for Dreamworks, won BIFF’s first Golden Honu for Screenwriting last year.

“How often do you get a chance like this?” says Leo Sears, BIFF Founder and Executive Director. “Here on the Big Island, writers, particularly screenwriters, don’t have access to the kind of resources they might in Honolulu, or other places. This is a great opportunity to learn from a prolific, accomplished, professional screenwriter, face-to-face for only fifty bucks. He’s a great teacher, a great guy, and a walking education for anybody interested in screenwriting. We’re lucky to have him as a friend of Big Island Film Festival.”

The Big Island “Talk Story” Film Festival is happening May 12-16, 2010 at Mauna Lani Resort, “on location” in two luxury hotels, retail shopping center and restaurants. Rated one of the Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals by MovieMaker Magazine, the 5th annual BIFF is a celebration of independent filmmaking with movies, special events, Hawaiian culture and music, embraced by the Spirit of Aloha. “Best of the Fest” Sunday, May 16 stars John Cruz in Concert plus the audience-voted Best Feature and Best Short films of BIFF 2010.

Mauna Lani Resort will offer accommodations at two ocean front luxury resorts, The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows and The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii, along with unparalleled shopping at The Shops at Mauna Lani. Both hotels are offering very special Festival Rates starting from $199 per room per night. Please make room reservations with the hotels directly.
