THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HONOLULU HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR FREEZING RAIN AND RAIN SHOWERS WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM HST THIS EVENING.
CLOUDS OVER THE SUMMITS OF THE BIG ISLAND HAS PRODUCED A BIT OF WINTRY WEATHER THIS AFTERNOON. WEB CAMS SHOWS A DUSTING OF SNOW ON THE GROUND. AIR TEMPERATURES IS AT OR JUST ABOVE FREEZING. THIS ENVIRONMENT WILL FAVOR A MIXTURE OF RAIN SHOWERS AND FREEZING PRECIPITATION. WE EXPECT THE CLOUDS AND SHOWERS TO DISSIPATE OVER THE SUMMITS NEAR SUNSET.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW…SLEET…OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS.
