Vulcan men finish 11th in golf invitational in California

The University of Hawaii at Hilo finished 11th in the 16-team Notre Dame de Namur University Argonaut Invitational at the Poppy Ridge Golf Club in Livermore, Calif.

Neil Cabico led the Vulcans with a 3-round score of 6-over-par 222 (77-72-73) on the 6,927-yard, par-72 course. He was tied for 18th place. Ryan Felix finished four strokes back at 226 (75-75-76) to tie for 30th place. Also in the tournament were Christopher Armanini (T62, 84-79-73=236), Logan Goulding (T64, 81-76-80=237) and Kelii Dias (T74, 82-84-79=245).

Cal State Stanislaus won the team title with an 860. They were followed by Chico State (865), Cal State Monterey Bay (871), Grand Canyon (879), Western Washington (886), Dixie State and Holy Names(893), Colorado-Springs (897), Notre Dame de Namur (910), Cal State East Bay (915),*Hawaii Hilo (918)*, St. Martins (919), BYU-Hawaii (928), Simon Fraser (934), Academy of Art (953), and Dominican (994).

CSUMB’s Scott Yeakel took medalist honors with a 8-under-par 208.
