“Volunteers began work on Tropical Paws 2010 within days of last year’s affair,” said HIHS Executive Director Donna Whitaker. “We try each and every time to surpass guests’ expectations for an enjoyable evening and our own expectations for fundraising, even in these economically challenging times. And we’ve always succeeded because our island community has a such a giving heart when it comes to the animals.”

Silent auction donations and event sponsorships are being sought. Contact HIHS at 329-8002 if you or your business is able to help.

The Second Chance Fund provides medical care and treatment for abused animals while they recuperate and become ready for adoption. The ongoing Spay/Neuter Community Assistance Program is committed to ending pet overpopulation on the Big Island and is in conjunction with concerted efforts centered around national Spay Day USA on Feb. 23.
