UH-Hilo women split games at the Desert Stinger in Las Vegas

The University of Hawaii at Hilo went 1-1 in the second day of the Desert Stinger in Las Vegas losing to St. Martin’s College 5-3 then coming back to beat host Montana State University-Billings 8-3 Saturday (Feb 13).

The Vulcans are now 3-1.

The Vulcans couldn’t take advantage of nine walks as they stranded 12 baserunners against St. Martin’s.
Kanani Numata had two of the team’s four hits.

Christina Pedroza recorded eight strikeouts but allowed 10 hits in giving up four earned runs.

Their bats woke up in the second game as they battered the Yellowjackets for 12 hits. Sierra Green was 4 for 5 with an RBI while Tessa Truong, Bryanna Hardy and Amanda Tellez added two hits each. Numata picked up a homerun.

Sarah Weisskopf picked up her second win of the year with a 7-hit performance.
