Night of Music Under the Stars in Kailua-Kona

Bring your blankets or beach chairs and enjoy a FREE concert on the lawn of Hale Halawai, Friday, January 22, with pre-show entertainment starting at 5:45 p.m. Get ready to dance under the stars to the sounds of the U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific “Hana Hou,” when they take the stage at 7 p.m.

The U.S. Air Force and the County of Hawai‘i, Department of Parks & Recreation-Elderly Activities Division is providing a FREE concert open to the public January 22, on the North lawn of Hale Halawai in downtown Kailua Kona. The concert will feature “Hana Hou” known throughout the Hawaiian Islands for their ability to entertain audiences with high impact performances in a variety of musical styles. This 10-member group plays the latest Top 40, classic rock, and R&B songs, as well as tasteful renditions of many island favorites. “Hana Hou” will entertain from 7-9 p.m.

Pre-show entertainment featuring Jack Knight’s ukulele players “Mele Ohana”, Sean Wilkinson’s “Good Vibes” and the Kelalakehe High School Jazz Ensemble begins at 5:45 p.m. Concessions and light refreshments for this family friendly event will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting the Kailua Kona Senior Citizens Club.

Visitors to the concert are encouraged to stop into Hale Halawai pavilion and visit the 2010 Ipu Cultural Festival open from 6-9 p.m. Ipu artists and practitioners, lauhala and coconut weavers, fishnet makers and many more will be demonstrating and selling their art.
