  1. why dont all motercycles wear helmats for safty i think its about time they make a law to wear helmats we in cars wear seat belt for safty what going on with our police and fire dept they should push for a law wearing helmats good day

  2. liveandletlive says:

    Hey bugado,
#1, how do you know they were not in this particular accident, and #2, what is it to you?
I cringe everytime I hear, “Why don’t they make a law for this and for that…
More laws are not the answer. People can, (and should) make personal choices and decisions on how to live their lives. If they are not hurting anyone else, let them make their own choices.
P.S BTW, its motorcycles; not motercycles, and its helmets; not helmats, and its safety; not safty! I won’t even get into your poor grammar and lack of punctuation!

Easy there “liveandletlive”… I ride and I know what your saying. Unfortunately this was a friend of mine and I can say he DID wear his helmet all the time.. His wife is still in critical care and we hope she makes it…

      • I saw him just before he crashed says:

I was driving to Akaka Falls with my niece when 2 bikes rolled past me at a really good pace. The first guy had a lead on the second, who was trying to catch him. I saw the second rider as he came out of the turn, he looked like he wasnt used to the bike he was riding, trying to ‘push’ the bike through the turn, his transition was sloppy at best.Well, he’s got his wife on the back…I see him smiling as they go by…shes leaning forward whispering in his ear, she smiles…I’m thinking to myself, I sure hope he slows down…I check my side view mirror as they roll on around the curve, trying to catch his buddy. We make it to the falls and do the touristy thing, taking pictures and goofing off…still, something has got me thinking, man I hope he slowed down…I can see him smilin, not a care, his silver rimmed sunglasses give off a small reflection in the afternoon sunlight..the snaps on the brown riding jacket are un fastened..she has her head on his shoulder…man, i sure hope he slows down…hes not used to that bike…as were driving back, to go to Hilo, traffic is stopped on this curve…its a long left hand sweeper..i stop, hit the hazards and walk toward the scene…upside down and twisted lay the dresser i had just seen 15 minutes before…as i walked around a stopped car, i see him ,layed out…his body bent in ways it was never supposed to bend…they put the sheet over him…i shake my head at the sight of him…as i turn around to walk back to the car…the scratches in the road tell me what i already know…the turn, a left hand sweeper…he came into fast..scrapes at the apex of the turn, hes realized his fatal mistake and lays the bike down…too late,it high sides and flies with him, over the top…the guardrail impedes his progress…the bike hits the same spot on the rail a milli-second later…both sliding side by side until the motorcycle releases its grip on him….as i walk back to my car, a glint of silver cathes the afternoon sunlight and gets my attention, its his sunglasses, smashed into the road by the impact…I wish he had slowed down….

        Yes, I also ride.

Well said “I saw him just before he crashed”…
I’ve lived here for 35 years and lost a few friends who drove cycles. Every time I hear/see one speeding I too think, “Hope they slow down!” I have seen some near misses on the Saddle road. Very sad. Hope the wife recovers.
