Structure fire in Honokaa burns closet and bedroom

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 7:51 p.m. alarm Wednesday (Jan 13) for a structure fire in Honokaa at 44-3275 Hoo Kahua Drive.

Crews found a fire confined to a bedroom and closet with the occupant fighting the fire with a garden hose. Firefighters extinguished the blaze which started in the closet. The ceiling and attic area also suffered fire damage.

The loss is estimated at $6,500, there were no injuries reported and no roadblocks. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
