High surf warning continues Wednesday afternoon

This message was issued at 2:18 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6:

This is a Civil Defense message. This is a high surf update for Wednesday Jan. 6. A high surf warning continues for the west facing shores of the Big Island. The Ocean Safety Division reports the closure of Kahaluu Beach Park, Laaloa Beach Park, Hookena Beach Park and Milolii Beach Park in Kona due to dangerous surf conditions. Hapuna Beach Park in South Kohala is also closed. Other reported beach closures include Kukio, Mauna Kea, Ooma, Kohanaiki and Maumae Beach. The high surf warning is expected to remain in effect until 6:00PM Thursday evening. Thank you and have a safe day.
