High surf warning and wind advisory

High surf warning for west-facing shores of the Big Island from 6 p.m. this evening (Jan 5) to 6 p.m. Thursday (Jan 7).

Because of the high surf warning the following advisory is issued: Residents, beach goers, and boat owners in West Hawaii are asked to be on the lookout and prepare for dangerous surf conditions. Surf heights are expected to reach or exceed 12 feet on the leeward shores of the Big Island.

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT WINDS OF 30 MPH ARE EXPECTED. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.
