MEDIA RELEASE
A 25 acre brushfire at Yee Hop Ranch which started Friday is contained to a kipuka with lava flows on three side and a firebreak on Saturday (Dec 26).
Hawaii County firefighters and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park personnel are extinguishing hot spots along the makai firebreak side. The burn area will be monitored by the land owner.
So we in Honaunau Valley had the Hokukano Ranch fire sitting in our valley and now the Yee Hop Ranch smoke has arrived. Gads, can’t they use ocean water to put it all out? A week or more of smoke day and night is not healthy. I wonder what the particulate count has been? The smoke from both fires is worse than vog. So enough already!
