KCH announces new medical executive committee

Kona Community Hospital has announce the medical executive committee for 2010 – Eddie Herd, M.D. (pediatrician) – Chief of Staff, Elizabeth Groshong, D.O. (anesthesiologist) – Vice Chief of Staff, and Christina Collins, M.D. (obstetrician/gynecologist) – Secretary/Treasurer.
The team will serve a two-year term.
Former Chief of Staff Lawrence Peebles served for four years, with former Vice Chief of Staff Robert Saito, M.D., and Elizabeth Groshong, D.O. as Secretary/Treasurer.
“I know I have big shoes to fill after the tireless commitment Larry Peebles and the entire Med Exec Team demonstrated,” Herd said. “I am looking forward to working with all of the dedicated physicians of the hospital and building a strong team for our community.”
Hospital CEO Earl Greenia welcomed the new committee officers.
“The administration and medical staff have enjoyed a very strong collaborative relationship the past four years – working with Dr. Peebles has been both pleasurable and productive. I look forward to working closely with Dr. Herd and the new medical staff leadership team.” he said.
Founded in 1914, KCH is a 94-bed full-service acute and long-term care hospital with 24-hour emergency services that supports the west region of the island of Hawaii.
It is a member of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a special agency of the state of Hawaii established in 1996. It is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
