MEDIA RELEASE

The Kona County Farm Bureau, together with the vendors in Keauhou are expanding the farmers market to include a second day of the week.

The new market is scheduled to run 8 a.m.-noon every Wednesday on the front lawn at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa.

The vendor policies are nearly the same as those that manage the Keauhou Farmers Market at the Keauhou Shopping Center, with the primary difference being that a somewhat wider range of local value-added products will be approved for sale at the Wednesday Market.

Along with local farm-fresh fruit, produce, coffee, flowers, vendors preparing or crafting value-added products with primary ingredients materials that come from Hawaii Island’s land or waters may be approved to rent a space.

Vendors must be able to document all sources for ingredients/materials used in products offered for sale at the market. For example, baked goods need to include ingredients from locally grown fruit/vegetables.  Any wood, bamboo, lauhala products need to be made out of raw materials grown on Hawaii Island.
