Kona Crime Prevention Committee honors Wike

The December “Officer of the Month” luncheon will feature Detective Gerald Wike  as the honoree.

The luncheon is noon Dec. 2 at The Paddlers Restaurant at The King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel.

Wike is being recognized for his investigation of a sex crime of a juvenile. Through his comprehensive investigation  sexual assault of eight minor cases were forwarded to the prosecuting attorney’s office for review.

The quality of work completed in this investigation is “typical of the exemplary work ethic that he dipalys each and every day he comes in to work his shift” commented Lieutenant Glenn Y. Uehana.

Youth Crime Watch of Kealakehe Community Association will  be the featured speakers and presenters at the lunch.

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee is an organization that encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting the Kona Police Department in their efforts to prevent crime, deter potential criminals and enforce the law.

Membership is open to organizations or individuals wishing to further the purposes of the Kona Crime Prevention Committee and is effective upon payment of dues.

The public is invited to attend the Officer of the Month luncheons held on the first Wednesday of each month.

Cost of the luncheon is $15, all inclusive at the Paddlers Restaurant.  Parking in the King Kamehameha lot is an additional $2.
