…Large northwest swell will rise rapidly Tuesday night and Wednesday…

A powerful storm system passing far north of the Hawaiian Islands has generated a large open ocean swell…which is expected to reach the Hawaiian waters later tonight. This northwest swell is forecast to rise rapidly…first near Kauai and Niihau…and then quickly spread southeast down the island chain. The swell will likely peak on Wednesday…with open ocean swell heights near 14 feet…before gradually diminishing Thursday and Friday. This swell…along with increasing trade wind speeds…will require the issuance of a small craft advisory for all Hawaiian waters starting tonight.
