Fire destroys Kailua-Kona home Tuesday (Nov. 17)

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 4:06 a.m. blaze at 76-6230 Plumeria Road in Kailua-Kona Tuesday (Nov. 17). Upon arrival firefighters found an 800 square foot home engulfed in flames.

Fire crews took approximately 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

The occupant of the home was treated for smoke inhalation on the scene and released. The loss was estimated at $140,000 with the cause of the blaze under investigation.

On Monday evening (Nov. 16) fire/rescue crews battled a brushfire in Puako involving 3/4 acres. Firefighters had the fire under control in 15 minutes.

There were no injuries or structures damaged in the blaze which occurred on state land. The cause of the blaze is unknown.
