MEDIA RELEASE

Hilo Coffee Mill in Mountain View Starts “Market at the Mill” on Saturdays

Plans are underway to establish a new farmer’s market in Mountain View at the Hilo Coffee Mill on Saturdays.

The new “Market at the Mill” will be held at the Hilo Coffee Mill farm and is scheduled to start Sat., Dec. 5, 2009 — qa significant convenience for local residents and visitors of the agriculturally rich Puna District.
The market will feature Hawai`i grown fruits, vegetables, flowers and other Hawai‘i-grown farm and value-added products.

“We want to showcase locally grown items and give our local farming community another revenue stream especially in these economic times. In addition, it promotes the purchase of locally grown items and sustainable agriculture. Having a market in Upper Puna / Mountain View can help save money on gas, groceries and entertainment. It can build community spirit.” said Jeanette Baysa, co-owner of Hilo Coffee Mill.

Market days are initially scheduled for Saturdays. Hours are tentatively set for
7 a.m.–12 p.m.

Vendor space is limited. Anyone interested in participating should call Kathy Patton or Jeanette Baysa at Hilo Coffee Mill, (808) 968-1333.

Hilo Coffee Mill is conveniently located on Highway 11, the beautiful Volcano Heritage Corridor, midway between Hilo and Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park.
