The second annual E Malama Aina Festival at Mooheau Park in Hilo focuses on sustainability practices for our island.
Hosted by the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce (HICC), the 2009 festival will feature green practices of local businesses, community groups and organizations.
Themed villages focus on transportation, building, agriculture, alternate energy, economy and workforce, communications and technology, safety, health care, food and nutrition, recycling and composting, and more.
There will be an emphasis on cultural practices of sustainability. The festival is supported in part by a grant from Hawaii County Department of Research & Development, with help from many local businesses, the Downtown Improvement Association and the University of Hawaii at Hilo Conference Center.
