Coffee & Art Stroll Adds Music

2009-coffee-art-stroll-skyscraperThis Saturday’s Coffee & Art Stroll in Holualoa Village will have something new for its 11th annual Kona coffee celebration ~ free music throughout the town during the 9 a.m.-3 p.m. event.

Along with 29 West Hawaii farms serving free samples of their finest Kona brews from the front lanai’s of the historic buildings that line Mamalahoa Highway, there will be local entertainers filling the air with music from the Kimura Lauhala Shop to the Holuakoa Gardens & Cafe.

Mele Ohana will start the day with Island tunes 10 a.m.-noon on the lanai of the pink Kona Hotel, along with flamenco guitarist Jan Orbom at the Pacific Islands Gallery 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

The a cappella group Hibiscus Jam will be singing and strolling from village shops to galleries noon-1:30 p.m. and there will be harp performances by Jim Elliott in front of the old Holualoa theatre 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m.

Wrapping up the Saturday music will be the Daifukuji Soto Mission Happy Strummers at the Kimura Lauhala Shop 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Visitors will be able to vote for their People’s Choice favorite coffee at the Holualoa Village Association information tent on the lawn of the old Hongwangi Mission and at Kimura Lauhala Shop during the six hour Coffee & Art Stroll, as well as see the coffee-inspired art work of Holualoa School keiki displayed on the outside walls of the Holualoa Library.

There will be parking at the school and lot next to the library, but in order to promote safety for the hundreds of visitors expected again this year, no parking will be allowed in the village from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
