Chamber presents employment law seminar

MEDIA RELEASE

It’s the most cost-effective way to keep on top of employment law issues. Get the facts about recent state and federal laws affecting your work place at the annual Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce’s 2009 Hawaii Employment Law Seminar. It’s 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 at the Keauhou Beach Resort.

Sponsored by Torkildson, Katz, Moore, Hetherington & Harris, the seminar provides a strategic road map for dealing with work place changes enacted by legislation.

This year’s program focuses on new developments in discipline and discharge tips; how to prepare for layoffs, furloughs and reduced hours; new laws handling workplace discrimination, harassment and retaliation; plus how to prepare for a pandemic.

The registration fee includes lunch, a hard copy of “The 2009-10 Chamber Desk Manual: Labor and Employment Law for Hawaii Employers” and a handy, one-year subscription to the manual’s online version.

Register online at kona-kohala.com, phone the chamber office at 329-1758 or email Carrie@kona-kohala.com. Admission is $260 for Chamber members and $320 for non-members; a $50 discount applies for more than one employee per business from the same company.
