Workshop focus on Kamakana Village at Keahuolu

MEDIA RELEASE

WHAT: Second planning workshop for Kamakana Village at Keahuolu

WHEN: 5-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 19

WHERE:  Ekahi Ballroom, King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel

Forest City, in partnership with the state, invites the public to attend a second planning workshop for Kamakana Village at Keahuolu, the mixed-use affordable housing community planned for the Keahuolu ahupuaa.

In the first planning meeting three months ago, the project team heard from more than 70 residents. The group identified major themes that characterized the future lifestyle of the West Hawaii community 15 to 20 years from now. Connectivity, accessibility, gathering places, education, open space and residences will provide the structural foundation.

Community members at this workshop will continue this visioning process as the project moves into the design phase.

The workshop will be held pursuant to the applicable requirements of Hawaii Revised Statutes, Chapters 201H and 205, Section 15-15-97, Hawaii Administrative Rules, and the Kona Community Development Plan (Ordinance No. 08 131).
