Updated: Kailua-Kona man wanted by police turns himself in

The Hawai’i Police Department has located 23-year-old Cody Lee Hughes of Kailua-Kona, who was wanted for abuse of a family/household member.

Hughes turned himself in at the Kona police station Monday morning (October 19). He was arrested for abuse and is being held at the cellblock pending further investigation.

Police thank the public for responding to a request for assistance in locating him.

The Hawai’i Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted for abuse of a family/household member.

A 26-year-old woman reported that she got into an argument with her boyfriend and that he choked her, causing her to pass out.

Police are looking for 23-year-old Cody Lee Hughes of Kailua-Kona, who is also known to frequent the Hilo area. He is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-10, about 160 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.

Police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential
