On Saturday October 24th, 2009 the public is invited to witness the beginning of a transformation. For years now the Hualalai Theater has sat dormant. No longer. Come take a look, and lend your support to the beginning of this project known as the LEAD Center. Not only will you have a chance to hear the plans from board members first hand, but a full line up of entertainment is scheduled, as well as a number of activities in the parking lot. This should be a great time for the whole family.

Featured Entertainers include Donald Kaulia, Lopaka Ryder & Special Guest’s, Kupuna, Makua and Keiki performers: Kim Hawks, Rona Flathery, Christian Martin and Company from: “Kona Murder MysteryTheater + Hula, Chanting and more!

The whole event will also be broadcast live on livehawaiianmusic.com

Hawaii Endeavors Inc has undertaken the task of transforming the theater, in order to provide a multifaceted community center to provide a number of services:

  • Conference/Training/Meeting Room Rentals
  • Business Services (copy, fax, printing, projector rentals, etc.)
  • Performance Theater with Large Screen & Platform
  • Recreation/Entertainment/Education Space
  • Internet Café with a Restaurant
  • Kupuna Programs
  • Mentoring Programs
  • Work Readiness and Training Site providing “Skill Build” Programs, working collaboratively with schools, government, nonprofit and for-profit business/organizations.

Examples:

Career Pathways : working with the High Schools providing exploration, internships and work experiences within the Center and as a facilitating referral to businesses/employers
High Technology/Production : Website design, graphics, writing, editing, music, acting, marketing — skills related to the entertainment/film/art industries in pre-production, production and post-production
Financial Literacy: Youth to elder years
Prevention Programs: Drug and Alcohol (others as needed within the community)
Continuing Education: Short-term skills development and enhancement courses
