…RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM HST THIS AFTERNOON FOR DRIER AREAS OF ALL ISLANDS…
THE KBDI INDEX REMAINS WELL ABOVE 600. EAST WINDS WILL REACH 20 MPH OR MORE OVER SOME AREAS BY LATE MORNING WITH RELATIVE HUMIDITIES DROPPING BELOW 45 PERCENT. THIS COMBINATION WILL PRODUCE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE CRITICAL CONDITIONS WILL SUBSIDE BY THIS EVENING BUT MAY RECUR OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS… SO THE RED FLAG WARNING MAY NEED TO BE EXTENDED.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW…OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS…LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY…AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE RAPID FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.
