Kona, Kohala hospitals offer new cancer service

MEDIA RELEASE

Kona Community Hospital and Kohala Hospital, in collaboration with American Cancer Society, has a new community feature to ACS Days.  It includes an informational booth for the entire community about a specific cancer each month (i.e. Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October will feature breast cancer information) and a representative to answer questions.

ACS Days provides cancer patients and their caregivers an opportunity to talk story with an ACS representative and to learn about the different programs and services available to them.

Kona Community Hospital ACS Days are scheduled the first and third Monday of every month from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kona Community Hospital’s Radiation Oncology Clinic and Chemotherapy Department.  The enhanced community feature will be available the first Monday of every month in the cafeteria.

The new community feature will be available at Kohala Hospital’s ACS Days every second Monday of the month at Kohala Hospital from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Carlo Mireles, American Cancer Society’s Community Manager of Health Initiatives, at 333-9338.
