Horse Expo 2009 raises more than $12K

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii Island Humane Society has announced the annual HIHS Hawaii Horse Expo 2009 raised more than $12,000 for the Society’s Horse Rescue Fund.

The funds are used by Hawaii Island Humane Society for feed, veterinarian care, and the improvement of equine holding facilities on Hawaii Island.

“We thank everyone who attended and supported this endeavor, especially our generous sponsors and vendors,” event organizer Nancy Jones said.

Plans are already in the works for Hawaii Horse Expo 2010 and an exciting new line-up of clinicians. Buzz from this year’s event, according to Jones, has resulted in early inquiries from renowned clinicians Chris Cox, Al Dunning, Tommy Garland and Bruce Logan.

“We appreciate the passionate efforts of Nancy and so many others who volunteered their time and talent to help make this year’s Expo a success,” HIHS Executive Director Donna Whitaker said.

During the event held Aug. 14-16 in Kona and Waimea, participants were offered opportunities for learning via the intimate exchange of ideas relating to equine care and training.

The Hawaii Island Humane Society’s Horse Rescue Fund was established last year to help abused and abandoned horses on the island.  For more information visit www.HawaiiHorseExpo.com or www.HIHS.org.
