In a game that means nothing for volleyball league standings, Friday night’s game meant everything to the Lady Canefire and the Lady Cardinals. Both Christian Liberty Academy and St. Joseph’s are in a rebuilding year, having each lost the majority of their starters. Both teams desparately needed their first win for the season, and that desparation translated into a very exciting game for the fans tonight.
The teams contested each point, with some rallies seeming to last forever. The Cardinals took the first game in a hurry, but lost their momentum in the second. They fought back from a five point deficit to within two points, but lost the set on the next play. The Canfire used their momentum from the second set to take the third as well, but the Cardinals stayed close throughout that set and used their own momentum to take the fourth set in short order. The fifth and final set was as closely fought as the second, with St Joseph eventually securing the win in rally scoring.
