Traffic flow changes Sept. 14 on Palani

MEDIA RELEASE

Traffic on Kealakaa Street in North Kona will be rerouted starting Monday, Sept. 14, for the last phase of roadwork on Palani Road.

Kealakaa Street will be closed at the Palani Road intersection, and motorists will use the Kealakaa Street Extension at the intersection of Palani Road and Palihiolo Street. Off duty officers will direct traffic during school hours.

The traffic change is to allow installation of concrete utility poles at the intersection of Palihiolo and Palani. Installation is expected to last eight weeks. Phone and cable work will follow after the utility poles are installed.

Palihiolo Street remains closed and residents of Queen Liliuokalani subdivision are asked to continue using Konalani Street.

Project is scheduled for completion the first quarter of 2010. Motorists are asked to drive with caution.

I live in Kealakehe and am amazed by the continual delays on changing up the one intersection at Palani and Kealakaa. Take a step forward only to take two back. They should remove the sign further done Palani where is states the finish date of July 2009, of but wait it is a great reminder of how slow the powers-to-be's wheels move.
