PHOENIX, AZ – University of Hawai‘i at Hilo senior middle hitter Fabiane Seben (Caxias do Sul, Brazil/Guimaraes Junior) has been chosen the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the second straight time.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 7, for matches contested from Aug. 31-Sept. 6.
Seben led the Vulcans to a 5-0 road trip to the Northwest and Alaska and an 8-0 overall start by leading the PacWest in hitting and service aces. She hit .437 in 21 sets for the week, recording 68 kills while committing just 13 errors in 126 total attempts. She also averaged 0.48 service aces per set, recording 10 during the week. Seben ranked third in the week in scoring by averaging 4.21 points per set, while her 3.24 kills per set ranked seventh in the league.
She was named to the Nanook Classic All-Tournament Team at Alaska Fairbanks.
Pac West Honor Roll
Josimara Pinheiro – Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-10, OH, Jundiai, Brazil/Guimaraes Junior)… ranked third in kills per game in the PacWest for the week…averaged 3.52 over 21 sets…totaled 74 kills, 3 aces, 3 block solos and 16 block assists for 88 points…ranked fourth in the league in scoring average for the week (4.19)…named the MVP of the Nanook Classic in Alaska.
Katie Swenson – Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 5-9, S, Bellevue, WA/Omaha Gross Catholic)…led the PacWest in assists per game for the second straight week (11.43)…totaled 240 in 21 sets…named to the Nanook Classic All-Tournament Team in Alaska.
