Hilo Meth bust nets two people

Hawai’i Police Department officers arrested two persons in separate crystal methamphetamine or “Ice” investigations in Hilo on August 19, 2009.

Forty-one year-old Wesley Kailimai, of Hilo was arrested after being stopped by Traffic Enforcement Unit officers for an illegal U-turn on the Mohouli Extension and a 3′ tall marijuana plant was observed in the back of the Dodge Caravan he was operating.

A further search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 2 ounces of “ice” broken down into 38 separate ziploc packets.

Also recovered from the vehicle was another 23.5 grams of dry processed marijuana, digital scale, and other paraphernalia associated with drug distribution.

Kailimai was charged by Hawaii Police Department Vice officers with first degree methamphetamine trafficking and numerous other drug offenses. His bail was set at $23,000.00 He is being held at the Hilo Police cellblock pending his initial appearance in South Hilo District Court.

In an unrelated case, a search warrant was served on a residence in Hilo by Vice officers on August 19, 2009. There, they recovered 3.2 grams of “ice” in three separate packets as well as a small amount of dry processed marijuana, ice pipes, and other drug paraphernalia.

Fifty-two year-old Wanda Ioane, of Hilo, was arrested and charged with two counts of third degree promotion of a dangerous drug as well as two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia offenses.

Ioane was released after posting $4,000.00 in bail.
