Sunday (Aug 2) fire at Puainako Town Center restaurant quickly under control

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 6:02 a.m. alarm Sunday morning (Aug 2) to a kitchen fire at Puainako Town Center at a Chinese food restaurant.

Firefighters found flames coming from the kitchen in the rear of the restaurant in an approximate two by five foot area. Crews broke through the front glass door, shut down propane lines and removed a melted aluminum pot. The fire was reported under control at 6:09 a.m. and out at 6:12 a.m. Crews then used fans to ventilate smoke from the restaurant and the owner and fire inspector arrived shortly after.

No injuries were reported, a roadblock was set-up on Kilauea Avenue to deal with firefighting operations. The loss was estimated at $1,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
