Hawai’i Police Department detectives have charged a 29-year-old Hilo man with assault and terroristic threatening after a Monday morning altercation with a 27-year-old Kea’au man (on July 27) left the Kea’au man with a stab wound to the shoulder.
Radley Ruben is being held at the Hilo cellblock in lieu of $2,000 bail.
Patrol officers responded to the 12:30 a.m. call of a man with a stab wound in the vicinity of the Hilo airport in an area called “Blue lights.” The victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
The investigation revealed that five men were drinking in that area when Ruben threatened the victim, produced the knife and started chasing the victim around a car before stabbing him. Ruben was located and arrested on Manono Street a short time after the incident.
