Kona man dies in Colorado accident

An autopsy has determined a Kona man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Colorado nearly two weeks ago.

The Larimer County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted the autopsy on a body found in Cash la Poudre River about a mile downriver from where witnesses reported seeing a man lose control on a curve, slide under a guardrail and into the river.

He was identified as Dennis M. Schultz, 63, from Kailua-Kona. 

Schultz crashed his black 1989 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle into a guardrail in the Narrows, just west of mm 103 in the Poudre Canyon on July 8, and has been missing in the river since.

The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the cause of death as blunt force chest and neck injuries due to motorcycle accident. The manner of death is accident.
