USGA Boys Junior sectional qualifier results from Mauna Lani Resort North Course

U.S. JUNIOR Results – Day #2

June 23, 2009

Results from today’s final round of the USGA Sectional qualifier held at Mauna Lani North Course on the Big Island. Tees – Blue (6767 yards) Par: 36 – 36 = 72
Conditions: WINDY day throughout with gusts between 30-35 mph.

Mikiya Akutsu, from Japan, shot a 2nd round 70 for a two-day total of 144 and qualified for the USGA Junior Championship which will be held at Trump National GC in Bedminster, New Jersey during the week of July 20 – 25th. Lorens Chan, Honolulu, fired a 2nd round 75 to finish at 147 to claim the 2nd qualifying position.

Alika Bell, Honolulu, shot 80 and finished with a 148 total to claim the 1st alternate position.

Justin Keiley, Haiku, defeated Thomas Yamashita, Kapolei, on the 2nd play-off hole to claim the 2nd alternate position.
