Medicaid program at Kailua-Kona Library

MEDIA RELEASE

John G. Roth, Esq., West Hawaii Director of the Young Lawyers Division of the Hawaii State Bar Association, will present a program to help individuals become informed about Medicaid, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23 at the Kailua-Kona Public Library.

Roth’s talk will include: An introduction to Medicaid; Alternatives to Medicaid; Eligibility requirements; Medicaid Home Liens; and Medicaid planning before it’s too late.

The Medicaid “look back” period was recently increased from three years to five years. This means planning in anticipation of Medicaid funding needs to be completed at least five years before applying for Medicaid support.

Estate planning is not only for the rich.  A good estate plan is tailored to each individual, which may include planning for eventual nursing home care.

Some people can afford their own nursing home care and some rely on government programs such as Medicaid to help fund their medical needs.

Either way, more options may be available the sooner a plan is executed.

The presentation will be followed by a short question-and-answer period.

This program is not associated with any Medicaid institution. Sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona, this program is offered free to the public.
