Four more novel H1N1 Flu cases, Hawaii’s total now 44

The state Department of Health confirmed four more cases of novel H1N1 Flu today (May 22). According to the Department of Education one of the cases involves a student at Waiau Elementary in Pearl City, Oahu. The student is recovering from a mild case of the flu at home.

The total number of confirmed cases in Hawaii is now 44 with the first three cases being confirmed on May 5 on Oahu.

As of 5 a.m. HST May 22 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 6,552 confirmed cases in 48 states and nine deaths.

The World Health Organization reports as of 8 p.m. HST May 21, 42 countries have officially reported 11,168 cases of influenza A (H1N1) infection, including 86 deaths.
